HDR for room shots

HDR for room shots

One of the challenges of doing room shots at events has been to balance the brightness of the projection screens with the more subdued lighting of the room.

For a few years I’ve been toying with HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography to get better room shots, however the process is rather tedious – even though the results are spectacular.

So now I own a Canon 5D Mk III with HDR processing built in – and I’m impressed.  Tried it out at the St George Foundation Ball at the Sydney Town Hall last Saturday – this is the result.

Year of the Dragon – St George Foundation Ball

Year of the Dragon – St George Foundation Ball

After a number of years at the Randwick Racecourse Pavilion the annual St George Foundation Ball was held this year at the Sydney Town Hall.

In an interesting twist the evening was emceed by a trio of poets. Poetry in Action where assisted by the Foundation during this year to tour to remote schools – so I guess they were returning the favor.

Once again we provided our fabulous studio with onsite printing.

The evening was capped off with a set by, following in the theme, Dragon
