Over the past couple of decades I have been involved in many events at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay. The venue has great views and is in the city; however it provided event managers with huge challenges. Especially access and rigging.
So I was interested to see what the new White Bay Cruise Terminal has to offer, and I got my chance last Saturday courtesy of Bridget Hart from Aspect Eight who produced quite a large event there for an international client.
Access and parking is a breeze. The main function area is spacious with only a few columns. Talking to the crew I found out that there are quite a few permanent rigging points available which make bumping in quite easy. This in particular is a huge contrast to the Circular Quay venue.
However I did get a laugh from this statement on the WBCT website… “White Bay Cruise Terminal (WBCT) is one of Sydney’s newest waterfront venues only five minutes by car or ferry from the Sydney CBD.” Obviously the PR jerk who wrote that has never crossed Anzac Bridge!
And well done to Scene Change on the production.
