To purchase digital images - select from the Commercial use section

  • Lo-res is 800 x 1200 pixel and suitable for on screen viewing (not suitable for printing)
  • Hi-res is 1600 x 2400 pixel and will produce a 6" x 8" photographic print or A4 on a regular desktop inkjet printer (but please use photo paper)
  • Original is 2400 x 3600 pixel and is suitable for magazine use and for printing up to A4 at a proper photo lab

Image sizes available for download

  • Small            400 x 300 pixels
  • Medium         600 x 450 pixels
  • Large            800 x 600 pixels
  • XLarge          1024 x 768 pixels
  • X2Large        1280 x 960 pixels
  • X3Large        1600 x 1200 pixels (this size will will print at A4 on a standard inkjet printer)

So what do these image sizes mean?

Screen resolution is usually 72 ppi (pixels per inch)

so 1024 x 768 pixels divided by 72 will give a screen size of 14” x 11”

and 3600 x 2400 will give a screen size of 50” x 33”

Print resolution at your local photo print lab is 300 ppi

so 1024 x 768 pixels divided by 300 will give a print size of 3.4” x 2.5”

and 3600 x 2400 will give a print size of 12” x 8” (30 x 20 cm)

The print resolution of your desktop inkjet printer is usually 150 ppi and a desktop laser printer is 600 ppi – so adjust accordingly

Standard magazine print resolution is 300 ppi and newspaper print resolution can be as low as 120 ppi
